The crafted weapons still worth building now that Destiny 2 is finished

I Spent Over 100 Hours in Destiny 2 Testing Even More TOP Crafted Weapons!

My revised crafted ranking puts No Hesitation, Praedyth's Revenge and Cataclysmic at the top, and the reason it moved from my first version is that Monument of Triumph rewrote the perk pools on old raid and dungeon guns. Nation of Beasts in particular came off Volt Shot after retesting.

This is also the last version of this list that anyone needs. Bungie has confirmed Destiny 2 receives no further planned content updates after Update 9.7.0, which shipped with Monument of Triumph on 9 June 2026, with only health and stability hotfixes to follow. The perks below are the perks these weapons keep.

How this list is ranked

Destiny 2 crafting table showing unlocked weapon patterns ready to shape

In-game screenshot of the Crafting Table or Enclave with several of the ranked weapons visible in the shaping list. Weapon names legible. Shot in-game, not a promo render.

Not by damage. The order mixes raw DPS, movement tech and team utility, which is why a support auto rifle sits above a linear fusion that does more damage to a boss. Read it as "how much does this weapon change what your fireteam can do", not as a DPS chart.

Two things changed between my first list and this one. Your feedback pushed me to retest picks I had written off, and Monument of Triumph gave older craftable weapons new third and fourth column perks plus access to gear tiering. Under the update, craftable raid weapons upgrade into tiered gear through the Crafting Table rather than requiring a fresh grind, which unlocks enhanced barrels and magazines, enhanced origin traits, cosmetics and mods.

One correction worth stating up front, because it changes how you farm: every raid and dungeon is playable year-round. The weekly featured rotator promotes two raids and two dungeons at a time, and featured activities drop farmable Deepsight weapons and higher-tier armour. Featured is faster, not required.

The ranking at a glance

  • 10. False Idols, Sword / Solar / Vortex. Column three Eager Edge, column four Elemental Honing. Pattern from the Pale Heart via Micah-10.

  • 9. Locus Locutus, Sniper / Stasis / Adaptive. Column three Under Over, no fixed column four pick. Bought from Xûr on weekends.

  • 8. Tarnished Mettle, Scout / Arc. Column three Shoot to Loot, column four Volt Shot or Explosive Payload. Bought from Xûr on weekends.

  • 7. Found Verdict, Shotgun / Arc / Aggressive. Column three Aggregate Charge, column four Trench Barrel. Pattern from Vault of Glass encounters 1, 2 and 4.

  • 6. Chronophage, Trace / Void. Column three Shoot to Loot, column four Destabilizing Rounds. Pattern from the Encore mission.

  • 5. Nation of Beasts, Hand cannon / Arc / 140 RPM. Column three Gearshift, column four Explosive Payload. Pattern from any Last Wish encounter.

  • 4. Corrective Measure, Machine gun / Void / Aggressive. Column three One for All or Aggregate Charge, column four Killing Tally or Redirection. Pattern from Vault of Glass encounters 1, 3 and 5.

  • 3. Cataclysmic, Linear fusion / Solar / Precision. Column three 4th Time's the Charm, column four Aggregate Charge. Pattern from Vow of the Disciple encounters 1 and 2.

  • 2. Praedyth's Revenge, Sniper / Kinetic / Rapid-Fire. Column three 4th Time's the Charm, column four Elemental Honing or Precision Instrument. Pattern from Vault of Glass.

  • 1. No Hesitation, Auto rifle / Solar / Support. Column three Enhanced Physic, column four Chaos Reshaped or Incandescent. Pattern from the Pale Heart.

10. False Idols: build it for the movement, not the damage

The first craftable Vortex frame sword with a Solar element, and the reason to build it is Eager Edge in column three rather than anything it does to a boss. Pair it with Elemental Honing in column four and it becomes a well-skate and shatter-skate tool that happens to swing.

Its Dealer's Choice origin trait grants Super energy on final blows, and equipping more Pale Heart weapons increases that effect, so it wants to be run alongside other Pale Heart guns rather than alone.

Where it falls down: if you already have a fast sword for movement, this adds nothing. Skip it and spend the resources further up the list.

Pattern: finish the Final Shape campaign, then work the Micah-10 questline in the Pale Heart until False Idols becomes available for Deepsight, and extract five.

9. Locus Locutus: the anti-barrier sniper you buy on a weekend

A 90 RPM Stasis adaptive sniper with intrinsic shield-piercing, sold by Xûr for Strange Coins when he appears at the Tower from Friday reset to Tuesday. The case for it is Under Over, which as far as I can find no other adaptive sniper can roll, worth up to 55% extra damage against elemental and barrier shields with the enhanced version.

Its Head Rush origin trait activates after crouching or sliding, and I measured it at roughly +30 handling and reload plus 15% damage against Hive, which is what makes barrier breaks in Hive content feel free.

Where it falls down: adaptive snipers do not compete for boss damage. This is a utility pick for a specific shield problem.

Pattern: buy Deepsight copies from Xûr's Strange Gear offerings on weekends.

8. Tarnished Mettle: still the Arc add-clear scout

An Arc scout tied to Jolt and Amplified play since Arc 3.0 landed with Season of Plunder. The reason it survives is the Shoot to Loot and Explosive Payload combination, which lets you pick up ammo bricks from across a room while every shot detonates, with Volt Shot as the alternative fourth column pick for Jolt builds.

Monument of Triumph brought it into gear tiering, so it can now take enhanced barrels, magazines and origin trait.

Where it falls down: Vouchsafe, below, does the same job better and is not craftable. Build Tarnished Mettle if you want the pattern locked in, grind Vouchsafe if you want the best scout.

Pattern: Xûr sells the Deepsight version at the Tower on weekends.

7. Found Verdict: burst damage on a super timer

An aggressive frame Arc shotgun that hits hard and reloads badly with a small magazine, which is precisely the problem its Time Loss Magazine origin trait solves. In my testing, casting your Super doubles the magazine for 20 seconds.

Gear tiering gave it Aggregate Charge in column three and Trench Barrel in column four, which is a double damage roll. The sequence that makes it work is specific: debuff the boss, cast Super to trigger Time Loss, melee to proc Trench Barrel, then unload inside the 20-second window. Get that order wrong and it is a mediocre shotgun.

Pattern: farm Vault of Glass encounters 1, 2 and 4.

6. Chronophage: the trace rifle the artifact carries

A Legendary Void trace that improved sharply once Harsh Refraction returned on the Tablet of Ruin artifact. Shoot to Loot in column three and Destabilizing Rounds in column four is the roll: Destabilizing spreads Volatile through a group, Shoot to Loot keeps you fed without breaking cover.

Where it falls down: this pick is conditional on the artifact. If you are running one of the other six artifacts, the case for Chronophage largely disappears. See the artifact section below.

Pattern: complete the Encore mission with Classic Collector active.

5. Nation of Beasts: the pick I reversed

This is the entry that changed. I originally ran Gearshift with Volt Shot and found it underwhelming in high-end content, because Jolt uptime was inconsistent when enemies died out of order. Retested, the recommendation is Gearshift with Explosive Payload: less ceiling, but reliable stagger and damage that does not depend on a verb proccing.

The general rule this illustrates is worth carrying to other weapons. In high-end content, a perk that always works beats a perk with a higher peak and a dependency.

Pattern: any Last Wish encounter.

4. Corrective Measure: the delete-everything machine gun

An aggressive frame Void LMG with the best damage uptime on this list. I reach 91 rounds with Enhanced Tactical Mag plus Backup Mag, and saw Time Loss Magazine refill to 182 after a Super, which is where the "delete all" description comes from.

Column three and four are situational rather than fixed: One for All or Aggregate Charge for sustained damage into a group, Killing Tally or Redirection for majors. Pair with Volatile Rounds from a Void artifact and it clears and damages at the same time.

Where it falls down: it wants a Void artifact to hit its ceiling, and you can only equip one artifact.

Pattern: Vault of Glass encounters 1, 3 and 5.

3. Cataclysmic: still the linear that everyone already owns

One of the first crafted linear fusions and still relevant. 4th Time's the Charm regenerates ammo from precision hits, which is what lets it sustain rather than burst.

The perk maths moved. Bait and Switch has been reduced from 35% to 30% by my numbers, and Monument of Triumph added Elemental Honing and Aggregate Charge in the fourth column. I prefer Aggregate Charge, because reaching its buff through three elemental debuffs is easier to coordinate than what Bait and Switch demands mid-damage-phase.

Where it falls down: Eyes Unveiled out-damages it. Cataclysmic wins on the fact that most players already have the pattern.

Pattern: Vow of the Disciple encounters 1 and 2.

2. Praedyth's Revenge: a boss-damage pick and nothing else

Praedyth's Revenge firing during a boss damage phase with ammo reserves holding

Screenshot taken mid-damage-phase showing the ammo counter and the Kinetic Synthesis mod active, ideally two frames side by side demonstrating ammo sustained across the phase.

A Kinetic rapid-fire frame sniper from Vault of Glass, chosen purely for sustained boss damage. 4th Time's the Charm in column three, then Elemental Honing or Precision Instrument in column four.

The reason it sits this high is an interaction rather than a stat. With All-Star and the Kinetic Synthesis artifact mod, special Kinetic bricks both reload the weapon and extend ammo uptime, which gets you close to continuous fire through a damage phase. Sniper's Meditation on the Hunter's Journal artifact stacks into the same plan.

Where it falls down: Conspiracy Hone beats it outright on damage. Praedyth's wins if you want the pattern rather than a roll you cannot re-roll.

Pattern: Vault of Glass.

1. No Hesitation: the only gun here that changes the encounter

A Solar support-frame auto rifle that fires damaging rounds at enemies and hip-fired healing waves at allies. Healing teammates rapidly increases its weapon damage and grants Restoration to you and to them, so the healing and the damage are the same loop rather than a trade.

Enhanced Physic in column three applies Restoration x1 for 7.5 seconds in my testing. Column four is the fork: Chaos Reshaped for boss damage, Incandescent for add clear.

It carries the Dealer's Choice origin trait, so running it beside other Pale Heart weapons such as Call or False Idols feeds Super energy on every kill.

Why it ranks first on a list where it does the least damage: in coordinated content it removes an entire role's worth of pressure from the fireteam. That is a bigger swing than a percentage on a damage phase.

Pattern: Pale Heart, via the Final Shape weapon family.

Non-craftable guns that beat the crafted picks

Found Verdict with the Time Loss Magazine buff active and doubled magazine

Screenshot or short annotated sequence of the Time Loss Magazine buff icon active with the doubled magazine count visible. Buff timer legible.

Four of the crafted entries above have a non-craftable rival that is straightforwardly better. Crafting gets you a guaranteed roll; grinding gets you the higher ceiling.

Vouchsafe, Void rapid-fire scout, Dreaming City

My pick for the best scout in the game. Its perk pool allows Repulsor Brace, Dimensional Shift and Shoot to Loot in column three alongside Destabilizing Rounds, Explosive Payload and Withering Gaze in column four, with a chance of stacking several of those on one roll. Drops naturally from Dreaming City activities, so the farm is low-friction.

Unworthy, Arc rapid-fire scout, Sundered Doctrine dungeon

Its Subjugation origin trait gives every shot an explosive effect, which functions like intrinsic Explosive Payload, and exhausts Champions, mini-bosses and bosses to reduce their damage output by 25% in my testing. No Shoot to Loot, which is the only reason it is not the outright pick over Vouchsafe.

Eyes Unveiled, Void linear fusion, Pit of Heresy

Currently the top-damage Legendary linear. 4th Time's the Charm with Precision Instrument, or Elemental Honing when your team runs a full elemental debuff spread. The novelty roll is Mega Kill Clip with Sword Logic for very large burst that runs the magazine dry fast.

Conspiracy Hone, sniper, Equilibrium dungeon

Out-damages Praedyth's Revenge, at the cost of a mechanic you have to learn. It uses a heat reload minigame: time your reload presses inside the grey bar to cut heat gain and get considerably more shots per magazine. Recommended roll is an Ionized Heatsink magazine, Vorpal in column three, and Bait and Switch or Firing Line in column four depending on whether you are solo or in a group.

Unlock it through Anor's "Way Between" quest, focus at the Praxic Temple, and run the dungeon with three feats active for Tier 5 drops.

Kindled Orchid, Void 140 RPM hand cannon, Black Armory

The reissued Black Armory hand cannon still rolls the original Kill Clip plus Rampage double-damage combination. The modern pool adds Shoot to Loot and Repulsor Brace in column three with Destabilizing Rounds, Explosive Payload or Demoralize in column four. It drops from Arena Ops, and attuning to it in the Attunement menu under your Inventory tab raises its drop rate.

Which artifact to equip, and why it decides half this list

Destiny 2 artifact screen showing all seven artifacts with one equipped

Screenshot of the artifact selection screen showing all seven artifacts available, with the equipped one indicated. This is the image that proves the section's premise.

This is the part the ranking depends on and most guides skip. Monument of Triumph made all seven artifacts permanently available at once, and you can only equip one at a time, with your choice saved into your loadout. That turns "align with artifact mods" from a seasonal accident into a decision.

The practical consequences for the weapons above:

  • Harsh Refraction sits on the Tablet of Ruin, which is what makes Chronophage good. Equip a different artifact and Chronophage drops several places.

  • Sniper's Meditation sits on the Hunter's Journal. You cannot stack it with a Tablet of Ruin loadout, so the Praedyth's Revenge sniper plan and the Chronophage trace plan are alternatives, not a combined build.

  • Volatile Rounds is what pushes Corrective Measure over the line, so an LMG-centred build wants a Void-leaning artifact.

Pick the artifact that matches the two weapons you actually shoot most, then build the third and fourth column perks around it. Building the weapon first and hoping the artifact cooperates is the common mistake.

What to craft first if resources are limited

  • You want boss damage: Praedyth's Revenge, then Cataclysmic. Both use 4th Time's the Charm as the ammo engine, so the same fireteam habits serve both.

  • You want add clear: Tarnished Mettle or Chronophage, decided by which artifact you already run.

  • You play with a regular fireteam: No Hesitation first. Support frames are worth more with people who will stand in the healing waves.

  • You play solo: skip No Hesitation and Found Verdict. Both are built around coordination, one for healing allies and one for a Super-timed damage window.

  • You already own the pattern: finish it. Under gear tiering, craftable raid weapons upgrade through the Crafting Table rather than needing a re-grind, so an old pattern is worth more now than it was before Monument of Triumph.

How to get the patterns

Conspiracy Hone reload meter with the grey timing window marked

Annotated screenshot of the heat reload minigame with the grey bar labelled and the correct press timing marked with an arrow.

Featured raids and dungeons are the fast route, because featured activities drop farmable Deepsight weapons rather than one per week, and two raids plus two dungeons rotate into featured status each reset. Everything remains playable outside that rotation, so a pattern is never gated behind waiting, only slowed.

For the two Xûr weapons, Tarnished Mettle and Locus Locutus, he appears in the Tower from Friday reset to Tuesday reset and takes Strange Coins.

For dungeon weapons like Conspiracy Hone, running with three feats active is what produces consistent Tier 5 drops, which matters more than raw completions when you are chasing a specific roll.

For Arena Ops weapons like Kindled Orchid, attune to the weapon in your Inventory before you queue.

FAQ

Will this list change again? No, barring a hotfix. Bungie has stated Destiny 2 will not receive planned content updates after Update 9.7.0, only hotfixes for health and stability, so the perk pools and damage numbers behind this ranking are the final ones.

Do I need to wait for a raid to be featured to unlock a pattern? No. Every raid and dungeon is playable year-round. Featured status means farmable Deepsight drops and better gear tiers, so it is faster but not a gate.

Is crafting still worth it now that weapons drop at Tier 5? For raid weapons, yes, because craftable raid weapons can be upgraded into tiered gear through the Crafting Table instead of being re-farmed. For dungeon weapons that drop tiered directly, the calculation is closer, and a non-craftable rival like Conspiracy Hone or Eyes Unveiled is often the better use of the same hours.

Can I run Harsh Refraction and Sniper's Meditation together? No. They sit on different artifacts and only one artifact can be equipped at a time, so the Chronophage build and the Praedyth's Revenge build are alternatives.

Why does a support auto rifle beat a linear fusion on a damage-focused list? Because the ranking weighs what a weapon changes about an encounter, not its DPS number. No Hesitation absorbs a role; Cataclysmic improves a number.
