Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph: Rewards, Marks & Title

Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph

Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph

Nearly nine years of raids, seals and vault space, and now the update that closes the book is sitting in your Director with 204 Triumphs attached to it. Miss the wrong ones and you leave the last title in Destiny 2 history unclaimed, along with a Skimmer, two Exotics and a shader that has been out of reach since Destiny 1. Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph is a checklist, and this is the order to work through it.

What Monument of Triumph actually is

Monument of Triumph launched on June 9, 2026 as Update 9.7.0, and it is the last planned content update Destiny 2 will receive. Bungie's support guide for the update frames it as a celebration of everything players have done since launch, and confirms two things worth holding onto: the content stays in the game indefinitely, and while no further updates are planned, hotfixes can still ship for the health and stability of the game.

That has already happened, four times. Hotfix 9.7.0.1 landed on June 16, 9.7.0.2 on June 23, and 9.7.0.3 on July 7, which Bungie described as its final major patch. Then 9.7.0.4 arrived on July 28, 2026 with no published notes at all. So the version you are playing right now is 9.7.0.4, not 9.7.0, and any guide written in the first fortnight of June is several patches behind.

Mechanically, the update is three things stacked together:

  • A new Triumph category, Monument of Triumph, spanning the game's full run

  • A new currency, Legendary Marks, earned from those Triumphs

  • Four new Tenet vendors in the Tower Courtyard who sell cosmetics for those Marks

Wrapped around that are Distortions, Pantheon, Sparrow Racing League, a reworked Director, and one hidden Exotic mission chain the community found on day one.

Monument Tower

Monument Tower

Your first 15 minutes

Do these in order. Skipping the first step costs you free currency.

1. Claim the login rewards

Head to the Special Deliveries kiosk in the Tower, sitting between Banshee-44 and Master Rahool. Waiting there are 50 Legendary Marks, two Bright Engrams and the Toast to the Monument emblem. Collect before you touch anything else, because those 50 Marks fund the next step.

2. Start The Tenets quest

Open your Director and track The Tenets. It sends you to the Monument structure in the Tower Courtyard.

3. Unlock all four vendors

Inspect the Monument, then buy any single item from the Tenet of Bravery. One purchase is the requirement, so grab the cheapest engram on the board. Completing that purchase unlocks the other three Tenet vendors, which stay locked until you do.

4. Pick up Distortions from Ikora

Go to the Bazaar, speak to Ikora Rey, then to Lodi standing to her left. That opens the Distortions questline, which is where a chunk of your Triumph progress lives.

5. Open the Triumph book

From any Tenet vendor screen, hit View Triumphs. You can also reach it through Journey, then Triumphs, then Monument of Triumph. The vendor route is faster when you are already standing in the Courtyard.

Legendary Marks and how to earn them

Legendary Marks are account-wide and have no expiry. There are 204 Triumphs in the Monument of Triumph category, and every one of them pays out. Community tracking puts most payouts somewhere in the 10 to 50 Mark range, with the cheapest scenic-spot Triumphs sitting at the bottom end and the harder endgame entries at the top.

The fastest early income, in rough order:

  • Worlds: Vistas (scenic spots) - Zero combat. Fly in, find the view, collect. Fastest Marks in the game.

  • Stories: The Tower - Zero combat. Petting Archie, the giant ball, the hidden net. Minutes each.

  • Distortion public events - Solo-friendly. Ticks destination Triumphs and drops upgraded gear at the same time.

  • Sparrow Racing League - Low pressure. Nine SRL Triumphs, no fireteam required, no combat skill needed.

  • Pantheon on the lowest difficulty - Group. Each boss kill ticks several Triumphs at once.

  • Seasonal Hub weekly challenges - Weekly. 10 Marks each, 30 per week, plus Orders when the bar fills.

Outside the Triumph book, the Seasonal Hub pays a steady trickle. Destinypedia's Legendary Marks entry puts weekly challenges at 10 Marks each for 30 a week, with Legendary Orders paying 20 and Exotic Orders paying 50.

Two things veterans get wrong here. First, check your Collections Triumphs before farming anything. If your vault has years of accumulated weapons and armour in it, some of those categories may already be complete. Second, leave raid challenges and Exotic missions until last. They pay well but they need coordination, and you will burn a weekend on them while the free Marks sit uncollected.

The four Tenet vendors

All four sit in the Tower Courtyard behind the Monument structure. Every vendor stocks a selection of armour ornament sets plus Ghost, Ship and Sparrow accessory sets. Beyond that shared pool, each has its own inventory.

  • Tenet of Bravery - Fafnir and Heir Apparent Exotics, a new Skimmer, a universal helmet ornament, all engrams, general emblems

  • Tenet of Devotion - Gryphon Skimmer, All Star Vector Skimmer, Sparrow Racing League cosmetics, general emotes

  • Tenet of Sacrifice - Superblack shader, the first earnable Holochip, a universal helmet ornament, finishers, Ghosts, ships

  • Tenet of Death - Chatterwhite shader, Einherjar Coronet helmet ornament, Exotic armour ornaments, raid and dungeon cosmetics, general shaders, transmat effects

The engrams are the quiet standout. They are endlessly repeatable and cover Lawless and Reclamation seasonal weapons, Pinnacle Ops, Crucible and Fireteam Ops weapons, Dawning, Festival of the Lost and Guardian Games weapons, and Solstice weapons and armour. If a seasonal roll got away from you years ago, this is the recovery route.

Three rewards that need more than Marks

Currency alone is not enough for everything on the boards:

  • Chatterwhite requires completing the weekly Vault of Glass Deepsight quest from Hawthorne in the Tower Bazaar

  • Einherjar Coronet requires eight Triumphs from the Teamwork: Raid Challenges category

  • Immortal Legend Armor Ornament Set requires the Immortal title, then a purchase from the Tenet of Bravery

There are also two veteran rewards outside the Mark economy. Players who were active during every Destiny 2 expansion year receive the Old Lights emblem and the Elemental Qi emote.

The Immortal title: all 17 Triumphs

Immortal is the last title Destiny 2 will ever add. It sits behind 17 parent Triumphs, and you only need 12 of them to claim it. Five can be skipped entirely, which is the single most useful fact in this guide: you can route around Trials, raids or whatever else you cannot stand.

Each parent Triumph is a "Triumph Triumph", meaning it completes when you finish a set number of Triumphs inside its subcategory.

  • Worlds: Vistas - 8 subcategory Triumphs

  • Worlds: Patrols - 13

  • Worlds: Treasure Hunting - 6

  • Worlds: Distortions - 6

  • Stories: The Tower - 7

  • Stories: Allies - 8

  • Stories: Campaigns - 13

  • Stories: The Nine - 9

  • Combat: Targets - 10

  • Combat: Armaments - 5

  • Combat: Exotic Missions - 8

  • Teamwork: Strikes and Battlegrounds - 6

  • Teamwork: Raid Challenges - 8

  • Teamwork: Dungeon Challenges - 6

  • Competitions: PvP - 8

  • Competitions: Gambit - 3

  • Competitions: SRL - 9

Bungie has not published these subcategory counts in an article, so they come from community documentation of the in-game Triumph screen. The Vistas, Distortions and SRL figures are corroborated across several independent trackers. The rest appear in fewer places, so confirm against your own Journey tab as you go.

The 12 to target if you want the least resistance: Vistas, The Tower, Distortions, Treasure Hunting, Patrols, Allies, Campaigns, Targets, Armaments, Gambit, SRL, and Strikes and Battlegrounds. Patrols earns its slot because it overlaps almost completely with Distortions and Treasure Hunting, so you finish it while doing something else. That leaves PvP, Raid Challenges, Dungeon Challenges, Exotic Missions and Stories: The Nine as your skips. Swap The Nine back in if you would rather not touch Gambit.

Claim the title from Journey, then Titles, once 12 are done. Gilding it requires all 17.

Distortions

Distortions turned patrol zones into something worth loading into. Every hour, one destination becomes distorted: enemies hit harder, the environment visibly changes, and reward tiers move up by one. Normal public events that would drop Tier 3 gear drop Tier 4, and Heroic public events that would drop Tier 4 drop Tier 5, the best version of any Legendary weapon in the game.

Watch the Destinations screen for the red distortion marker and the countdown. Community tracking has the rotation running Cosmodrome, EDZ, Dreaming City, Savathûn's Throne World, Moon, Europa, Nessus, then repeating.

The full loop runs: public events, then a Distortion Breach, then 50 Strange Matter, then the Strange Signal, then a boss, then a reward chest.

Three habits that make this worth your time:

  • Set your weapon attunement before you land. Pick the Distortion weapon you want and do not switch mid-session.

  • Do not start with under five minutes on the clock. You will not finish the loop, and the window closes.

  • Prioritise Heroic public events. The tier bump is the entire point, and Heroic is where Tier 5 comes from.

Pantheon and Sparrow Racing League

Both are permanent additions as of Update 9.7.0, but they live in different places. Pantheon launches from the new Raids and Dungeons node; Sparrow Racing League sits inside Crucible Ops.

Pantheon returned as a boss rush with escalating slates. Two activities were live at launch, a third arrived on June 13, and a weekly rotating two-boss encounter followed from June 16. For Triumph farming specifically, the lowest difficulty tier is the efficient choice: the power cap is lifted and revives are generous, so a mechanically rough team still clears bosses and still gets credit. Each kill ticks multiple Monument Triumphs.

Sparrow Racing League is back for the first time since Destiny 1, and this time it stays. It got a genuine pass rather than a nostalgia re-release: faster overall speeds, improved Sparrow handling and camera, air tricks that grant a boost on landing, and rebalanced racing. Races are three laps with six players, solo queue or fireteam, across five tracks: four returning Destiny 1 courses plus one new addition. Nine SRL Triumphs feed the Competitions category, and none of them ask you to shoot anything. The weapons that drop here carry the Featherweight origin trait, which grants movement speed on final blows, so the playlist is worth a look even if racing leaves you cold.

Cull's Shadow, the last secret Exotic

Bungie buried an unmarked Exotic mission chain in the update and said nothing about it. The community found it within a day.

Cull's Shadow is a Kinetic Fusion Rifle and a Weapon of Sorrow, and it has its own melee. Getting it works like this:

  1. Equip a Weapon of Sorrow. Thorn, Osteo Striga, Necrochasm and Touch of Malice all qualify, and you need one for the entire unlock and the mission itself.

  2. Run The Scarlet Keep strike from the Moon. In the final boss area, shoot the Hive symbols with your Weapon of Sorrow.

  3. Track down the Hive crystals scattered across the Moon.

  4. Drop into the hidden opening under the Sorrow's Harbor bridge to unlock the mission.

  5. Run Oblation: Bloodline, launched from its node on the Moon.

The weapon drops from the mission boss along with its first catalyst. Two further missions in the chain, Oblation: Soulfed and Oblation: Immolation, unlock the remaining three of four catalysts plus an Exotic Sparrow. Select Oblation from the Moon map and use the customise option to choose which one you are running.

If you want all four catalysts in one sitting, do not leave the mission after the boss dies. The full chain is a multi-hour job.

What moved in the Director

If you are returning after a long break, half your muscle memory is now wrong. Per Bungie's Dev Insights on the Director rework, here is what changed:

  • The legacy Vanguard Ops playlist and Nightfall nodes are gone. Everything lives in the Fireteam Ops hub on the Destinations screen.

  • Legacy Crucible nodes moved into the Crucible Ops hub, with featured modes on rotation.

  • The Legends node is deprecated. Exotic missions, raids and dungeons launch from Pinnacle Ops or the new Raids and Dungeons node.

  • Trials of Osiris runs every weekend except when Iron Banner is live. Iron Banner runs every four weeks, reset to reset.

  • Raid and dungeon access still depends on owning the matching expansion or Dungeon Key. All Dungeon Keys are bundled into Destiny 2: The Collection.

Four seasonal events were retired: Guardian Games, Solstice, Festival of the Lost and The Dawning. Some of their rewards moved into the Monument's Tenet vendors, and some armour sets went to Eververse for Bright Dust.

What has a deadline and what doesn't

This is the part most guides skip, and it is the part that costs people things.

No deadline:

  • The Immortal title and the Immortal Legend Armor Ornament Set

  • Legendary Marks, which never expire

  • Every Monument of Triumph Triumph

  • Pantheon and Sparrow Racing League, both permanent

  • Every Tenet vendor reward, including the repeatable engrams

Deadlines apply to:

  • The Bungie Rewards physical shirt tied to earning the Immortal title. Reporting has put the cutoff at September 30, 2026, but the Bungie Store product page and the official TWID post have shown slightly different dates, so verify the exact cutoff on Bungie Rewards directly before you rely on it.

Finite rather than timed:

  • Focused Bright Engram contents deplete as you acquire them. When a Focused Engram empties out, further purchases of it are blocked because there is nothing left inside.

Everything else in the update sits in the game indefinitely. There is no seasonal clock forcing your hand.

Triumph checklist

Triumph checklist

A two-week route to Immortal

Assuming a few hours a week rather than a full-time grind.

Week one, solo:

  • Claim the Special Deliveries rewards, run The Tenets, unlock all four vendors

  • Clear every Worlds: Vistas scenic spot across all destinations

  • Clear Stories: The Tower in one sitting

  • Take the Distortions questline from Ikora and Lodi, then run distorted destinations whenever the timer suits you, stacking Treasure Hunting and Patrol objectives in the same trips

  • Run SRL races in the evenings for the Competitions category

Week two, mixed:

  • Work Stories: Campaigns and Stories: Allies, which reward you for content you have likely already played

  • Clear Combat: Targets and Combat: Armaments during your Distortion runs by picking loadouts that match the objectives

  • Run three Gambit matches for the smallest category on the board

  • Fill Teamwork: Strikes and Battlegrounds through Fireteam Ops

  • Bank Pantheon runs on the lowest difficulty for bulk Triumph credit if you can find a group

That path reaches 12 without touching Trials, raid challenges or dungeon challenges. Spend the accumulated Marks on the engrams first if you want gear, or the Skimmers and shaders first if you want cosmetics, since the Marks are permanent either way and there is no penalty for waiting.

Key takeaways

  • Monument of Triumph launched June 9, 2026 as Update 9.7.0 and is Destiny 2's final planned content update. Hotfixes have continued, and 9.7.0.4 is the current version.

  • Claim 50 Legendary Marks, two Bright Engrams and the Toast to the Monument emblem from Special Deliveries before doing anything else.

  • Buy one item from the Tenet of Bravery to unlock the other three Tenet vendors.

  • There are 204 Triumphs in the category. Scenic spots and Tower Triumphs are the fastest, and require no combat.

  • The Immortal title needs 12 of 17 parent Triumphs, so five categories can be skipped outright. Gilding needs all 17.

  • Distortions rotate hourly and bump reward tiers by one, making Heroic public events the best open-world source of Tier 5 gear.

  • Cull's Shadow requires a Weapon of Sorrow and an unmarked Moon questline starting inside The Scarlet Keep.

  • No in-game reward expires. The only dated item is the Bungie Rewards physical shirt, and Focused Bright Engrams empty out as their contents are claimed.

FAQ

Is Monument of Triumph free?

Yes. Bungie confirmed the update is available to all players from June 9, 2026 and remains in the game indefinitely. Individual raids and dungeons inside it still require ownership of the matching expansion or Dungeon Key, but the Monument itself, Legendary Marks and the Tenet vendors are open to everyone.

What are Legendary Marks used for?

Legendary Marks buy rewards from the four Tenet vendors in the Tower Courtyard. That covers armour ornament sets, shaders, Skimmers, Ghosts, ships, emotes, finishers, two Exotic weapons, and repeatable engrams full of seasonal and event weapons. They are account-wide and do not expire.

How many Triumphs are in the Monument of Triumph?

There are 204 Triumphs in the Monument of Triumph category, spread across Worlds, Stories, Combat, Teamwork and Competitions. Every one awards Legendary Marks, with most payouts landing somewhere between 10 and 50 Marks depending on difficulty.

How do you get the Immortal title?

Complete any 12 of the 17 parent Triumphs in the Monument of Triumph category, then claim the title from Journey, then Titles. Each parent Triumph completes when you finish a set number of Triumphs within its subcategory. Earning the title also unlocks the Immortal Legend Armor Ornament Set for purchase.

Can you still get the Immortal title now?

Yes. The title has no expiry and the content stays in the game indefinitely. The only dated element is the Bungie Rewards physical shirt tied to earning it, so check Bungie Rewards for the current cutoff if you want that.

Where is the Monument of Triumph in the Tower?

It stands in the centre of the Tower Courtyard, with the four Tenet vendor plaques arranged behind it. The Special Deliveries kiosk holding your login rewards sits nearby, between Banshee-44 and Master Rahool.

What is the fastest way to farm Legendary Marks?

Start with the Worlds: Vistas scenic spots and the Stories: The Tower Triumphs, both of which need no combat. After that, run Distortions on rotating destinations, race in Sparrow Racing League, and clear Pantheon on its lowest difficulty tier, where a single boss kill ticks several Triumphs.

Is Destiny 2 shutting down?

No. Bungie has stated that Destiny 2 will no longer receive planned live-service content updates after Update 9.7.0, but the game remains playable and hotfixes can still ship for stability. Four hotfixes have shipped since launch, the most recent on July 28, 2026.

Do you need an expansion to play Monument of Triumph?

No expansion is required for the Monument, Legendary Marks or the Tenet vendors. Specific raids and dungeons still require their corresponding expansion or Dungeon Key, and Trials of Osiris requires The Edge of Fate, Renegades or Destiny 2: The Collection along with SMS verification.

Can you gild the Immortal title?

Yes. Claiming the title needs 12 of the 17 parent Triumphs. Gilding it requires completing all 17, including the categories most players skip, such as Competitions: PvP and Teamwork: Raid Challenges.

What is the last Exotic weapon added to Destiny 2?

Cull's Shadow, a Kinetic Fusion Rifle and Weapon of Sorrow, added secretly in Monument of Triumph. It drops from the hidden Oblation: Bloodline mission on the Moon, with three further catalysts available through Oblation: Soulfed and Oblation: Immolation.
